Kalpetta is in waynad district in Kerala, nestling amidst nature’s bounty of flora and fauna. The place has developed from a Tribal hamlet to a modern city. Father Joseph Kizhakkebhagam, the Parish Priest in the neighbouring village of Pallikunnu had seen the effective work of Bethany sisters there and requested for the Sisters to educate the children of Kalpetta. In response to his appeal, Sr Fabian with three more sisters were sent forth to open St. Joseph’s Convent at Kalpetta on June 25, 1973.
An English Medium School was started in 1973 under the patronage of St. Joesph, under the Kerala State Syllabus scheme, from classes K.G. to VII. Sr Zeena BS was the first Principal. In 1997, the school was upgraded to the High School and in the year 2000 the 1st batch of students appeared for SSLC board Exam. Even since the school alw
ays had 100% pass result speaks of the hard work of HM, staff and the motivation provided to the students here. The School was affiliated to CBSE Board Delhi in 1997.
A PUC parallel college was started in 1995 which was a boon to the many young girls who could not afford to go to the distant cities, after their matriculation. However subsequently this college was closed down in 2000.
To help the students to bring out their capabilities and enhance their quality of life, in keeping with the changing world. To this effect, various camps and classes are held for the students.
The school has student strength of 1323 and a faculty of over 50 staff. We are constantly striving to make this institution a premier one in this region, accordi
ng to the vision of Father Founder and the values of BES, by providing quality education to every child on the campus.
